The Shulamite Bride…

mary_magdelene

She lay upon the threshold, grasping her waist.

The others looked upon her, watching in awe.

She had been beaten and raped beyond comprehension.

The others who watched were her kin.

They were her brothers and sisters, her mothers and fathers.

Each of them had seen what had happened, but none spoke up.

Some of them participated, but all were guilty.

Then, out of her mouth came a deepened cry.

Which turned into a scream beyond all that was human.

They all watched and claimed… surely she must die.

Surely she has no breath left to scream.

Just as they thought her air had left her body, the scream did not cease.

Beyond all reason the scream filled the earth and did not abate.

Her blood left her body and forced its way into her head.

Her body was lifeless, and her scream was all that was left.

Finally, after many minutes… the scream stopped and she fell limp upon the threshold.

Her kin, her brothers and sisters, stood staring, glad that she had stopped.

But something else happened…

Her blood ebbed its way into her body once more.

She was able to pull herself up and to her senses.

She stood there and she was more beautiful than ever.

Her gown was clean, and her body was full of life.

They were horrified.

She pointed her finger and said… You! You may take no part in me anymore.

For I am the Shulamite bride, the bride of Solomon.

You have all tried to have your way with me, yet I remained faithful.

You were meant to be my watchers but you failed in your duty.

You left me dead, beaten and watched as others raped me.

You wanted me dead for my scream was one that you birthed.

But, I have remained faithful to my Kinsman Redeemer, my King Solomon.

I am a virgin, I am clean, I am refined and I am dressed in the finest of garments.

Look at me and see me, you have NOT won.

I am at the threshold dressed in fine linen, and beautiful beyond compare.

I am about to enter into the place where only he and I share.

You have no part in me. You cannot enter, you must stay out here.

I am the Shulamite Bride, the bride of Solomon.

(The above is a dream I had about a week ago) Needs some work, but I had to write it down.

  1. This has spoken to a very deep place in me tonight. You see, you painted a picture with your words of what happened to my daughter and son-in-law today.

“You have all tried to have your way with me, yet I remained faithful.

You were meant to be my watchers but you failed in your duty.

You left me dead, beaten and watched as others raped me.”

The scream is exactly the description of the torment I saw my daughter endure tonight and could do nothing to help her but hold her and pray.

I say all of that to say this: I NEEDED to KNOW that the LORD saw what happened to them. This was for me, an embrace from my Father to hold me together tonight. Thank you.

    • WOW, Pam! I am so glad that this poem spoke to you. It was a horrible dream, and one that I needed to write before I forgot it. Thanks for you honesty. May God bless you and your family. Stay strong and persevere in Christ so that you will be noted as a good and faithful servant.
