Todd Bentley – Is he now ashamed of his angel Emma?

[Hat-Tip “living in the Way“]

A recent commenter said that Bentley has apparently become ashamed of the angel called Emma. So much has been documented about Bentley’s encounter with Emma who he called…

EMMA, ANGEL OF THE PROPHETIC

Now let me talk about an angelic experience with Emma. Twice Bob Jones asked me about this angel that was in Kansas City in 1980: “Todd, have you ever seen the angel by the name of Emma?” He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me. Surprised, I said, “Bob, who is Emma?” He told me that Emma was the angel that helped birth and start the whole prophetic movement in Kansas City in the 1980s. She was a mothering-type angel that helped nurture the prophetic

She glided into the room, emitting brilliant light and colors. Emma carried these bags and began pulling gold out of them. Then, as she walked up and down the aisles of the church, she began putting gold dust on people. “God, what is happening?” I asked. The Lord answered: “She is releasing the gold, which is both the revelation and the financial breakthrough that I am bringing into this church. I want you to prophecy that Emma showed up in this service-the same angel that appeared in Kansas city-as a sign that I am endorsing and releasing a prophetic spirit in the church.” See, when angels come, they always come for a reason; we need to actually ask God what the purpose is. Within three weeks of that visitation, the church had given me the biggest offering I had ever received to that point in my ministry. Thousands of dollars! Thousands! Even though the entire community consisted of only three thousand people, weeks after I left the church the pastor testified that the church offerings had either doubled or tripled.

During this visitation the pastor’s wife (it was an AOG church) got totally whacked by the Holy Ghost- she began running around barking like a dog or squawking like a chicken as a powerful prophetic spirit came on her. Also, as this prophetic anointing came on her, she started getting phone numbers of complete strangers and calling them up on the telephone and prophesying over them. She would tell them that God gave her their telephone number and then would give them words of knowledge. Complete strangers. Then angels started showing up in the church.

You simply must go to the link in the above quote to get an idea of what is actually happening. Bentley was very open about Emma the Angel, but “Living in the Way” recently noted that things are changing…

NOW, after reading all about the angel “Emma” (written by Todd himself) look how Todd Bentley has NOW CHANGED his “angelic visitation” story on his ministry website to be somewhat less controversial by removing all references to “Emma”:
http://www.freshfire.ca/index.php?Act=read&status=teaching&Id=40&pid=954 (paragraph 2)

Emma has now become ‘a particular angel’ according to the changes on Bentley’s web-site. Under the paragraph called Angel the Prophetic it now reads…

Twice Bob Jones asked me if I had seen a particular angel that was in Kansas City in 1980. He asked me as if he expected that this angel was appearing to me.

Interestingly one of the commenter’s from “Living in the Way” noted that this is not the first time Bentley has removed things from his web-site…

THE GLORY CLOUD OF REVELATION & PROPHETIC MANTLES – PART 2: CONCLUSIONDate: June 19, 2006This is the conclusion of a two-part series by Revivalist and Founder of Fresh Fire Ministries, Todd Bentley, entitled, The Glory Cloud of Revelation & Prophetic Mantles. In a vision, Todd saw the Glory Cloud of Revelation—the cloud of Isaiah 11:1, 2, and Revelation 4:5 come upon the Church body—that is, the cloud that is the fullness of the Holy Spirit, the seven Spirits of God. The Lord also showed Todd in the vision, an old Punjabi sadhu (holy man), by the name of Sundar Singh, who lived in India and evangelized throughout the world over a hundred years ago. CONTINUED NOTE TO ALL MY READERS: I have today, May 15, 2008, observed that “The Glory Cloud of Revelation” by Todd Bentley from his link and website that I provided that exposes Todd Bentley’s involvement in mysticism has been removed.
but the link as of May 15 has suddenly and mysteriously disappeared. Could it be that Bentley is now trying to hide the fact that he is involved in mysticism and contemplative prayer, which goes directly against Biblical teachings since more and more people are getting wind of this fraud?

Perhaps we should all get in the practice of doing a print screen to document things that mysteriously disappear!

Other weird stuff that I have just read over at Sola Dei Gloria’s site…

Hello Todd Bentley’s new angel that is leading the blinded sheep in Calif. is called the “Angel of Liberty..”

see: http://www.scribd.com/doc/3016511/Todd-Bentleys-Latest-Visions-and-Delusion-Latter-Rain-Heresies-2

I also got a email from a lady from Calif. She says some people are turning green and red and one woman turned purple…in one of my newsletters, research showed that the “Oni demons” that come to take dead people to be judged by Emma-O, the Judge of the underworld, are red or green in color. I wonder if, when these people attending his false revivals, turn green or yellow are being marked for death?
Also, it is being reported that 7 people were “raised from the dead”. No names, or documentation…very strange and deceptive.

  1. Yes, it posted twice… thanks for pointing this out to me. Currently I am using live writer, and for some reason, when I post something it says it hasn’t posted (which it obviously did post) ….so then I give it another shot, and then it posts successfully. Hence, the double posting.

  2. Todd Bentley seems miraculous but in truth he scares me to my booties…I fail to see why we need to scream “Release” into someones belly or “Bam” and point at someone for them to be healed….I just cannot see the gentle jesus I know doing that as a requirement of healing, everything of this rings untrue to me. I am scared how many poeple are being taken in….I pray that all will be reveealed as false intime for them to repent. This kind of thing is of the anti-Christ to take in the saved and turn them away from the Lord and His true and real Wonders. PLease continue to tell tehr uth that folks make be saved from this evil direction. healing is real adn is a gift from God but is is decidedly not this unbiblical dangerous falsehood.

  3. Thank you Claire for your encouragement and support.

    In fact today I am going to post another youtube where Bentely, Bob Jones and Patricia King talk about something that is nothing short of Astral Travel.

    Bob Jones is a man — considered a prophet — who told woman to undress to be naked before the Lord

    Bob Jones is one of the Kansas City Prophets. Seen by some as the most controversial of the Kansas City Prophets. Was removed from the Vineyard Anaheim because of sexual improprieties, which consisted of encouraging women to undress in his office so they could stand “naked before the Lord” in order to receive a “word.” Still active today, with the abundant support of Rick Joyner. Jones is a major proponent of Latter Rain and Manifest Sons theology.

  5. For those of you in the Lakeland Florida areea, I beg some of you, one of you, to be bold, and attend one of these meetings, and publically rebuke this man and his false teachings, if the Body of Christ started doing something instead of posting messages on blogs, maybe a dose of public embarassment could help. Maybe, attaching leaflets, in the parking lot, with biblical warnings and veres against embracing such transparent heresy. We need to do something more than just “talking” abou this endlessly so others can be warned, and to do so boldly, in love for the sake of those being defiled by this brazen heretic and his false visions, impartations and associations.

  6. I agree that something more has to be done. We can pray that there be men of good faith to address this publicly. whole Churches to stand up to would be fantastic.

    I for one have blogged about it and I have warned family members about this teaching that has infiltrated my local Church that family members attend.

    But unfortunately the Churches around my area have pretty much been primed for this sort of teaching. The sheep have not been fed the Word of God in years. So, they are hungry for anything!!!

    Starving people will sand just to fill their bellies during a famine.

    Amo 8:11 Behold, the days are coming, declares the Lord Jehovah, that I will send a famine into the land, not a famine for bread, nor a thirst for water, but rather a famine for hearing the Words of Jehovah.

  7. I agree we should always expose lies …but lets not forget that these sort of things are predicted in Gods Word …This heretic is certainly sorting the sheep out from the goats …here is a great quote from Charles Haddon Spurgeon (the prince of preachers) :

    ” Men go after novel and false doctrines because they do not really know the truth;
    for if the truth had gotten into them and filled them, they would not have room for these day-dreams. ”

  10. Todd Bentley minsitry appears to have invited an “evangelsist by the name of David Hogan to “minister” in his home town in British Columbia in Septemeber of this year. If you think BEntley is an outrageous storyteller, Hgoan makes Bentley look almost legitimate. These are some of the claims of David Hogan from http://www.pfo.org/exploits.htm

    Astonishing Miracles or Incredible Hype?

    by G. Richard Fisher

    Suppose a minister got up on Sunday morning and told his congregation:

    • He raises people from the dead;

    • He is thrown supernaturally across rooms into walls;

    • He multiplies food;

    • He drives his vehicle underwater;

    • Angels are assigned to him and have to go where he goes;

    • He is miraculously transported from place to place without the aid of planes, trains or automobiles;

    • He is invigorated when new demons are unleashed on him;

    • A demon has tried to tear out the innards of his child;

    • He has a little son who has a hanky that is so anointed he can make people fly just by shaking it at them;

    • He has seen limbs grow on limbless people;

    • He has seen the creation of new brains in a brainless baby;

    • Jesus talks to his dog and horse;

    • He has seen people fly around the room under the anointing of God.

    However, this minister never raises the dead, levitates, multiplies food, restores missing body parts or makes people fly there where he preaches. He only reports that it happens elsewhere, without offering any documentation.

  11. Ron, thanks for the heads-up!

    Interesting to note that David Hogan is also saying that his ministry is a direct inspiration of William Branham…

    Hogan bills himself as a “missionary” to Mexico. He says that he goes out to 20 tribes of “injuns.” He claims to be an “ultra-commitalist” and a “martyr.” Hogan says he is a disciple of T.L. Osborn, whose inspiration was William Branham.

  15. He is not ashamed, simply sensitive to the public and religious people. He is under much criticism and pressure fom critics & scoffers but God is Judge at the end of the day, not you. It is a special thing when God calls you friend and you are sensitive to the spirit realm which is more real than the very ground we walk on. You need to listen to some of his teaching tapes and hear the truth in them. He has more passion and real hunger for God than anyone I’ve ever seen pray, worship, or teach. He is humble and gives God all the glory always. He has a multi-million dollar company but sows most of the money into missions in third world countries and doesn’t keep much for himself. Do you know him personally? Do you know how he treats his family or his staff? Have you ever spent time with him to get to know him as a person? I’m guessing the answer is no. You have no personal friendship with him so you have no reason to be hiding behind your typos & gossiping about him. He has been chosen by God to bring revival but the religious spirit blinds people from seeing it. Can you honestly say that you feel God in your life? Do the angels recognize your voice in heaven? Do you have a personal relationship with God where you engage your heart with him every day and minister to him more than just one hour on a sunday? Can you honestly say that you touch heaven and feel his presence so near in your services where everything has to be so planned out and scheduled. Where you can’t be lead by the spirit, have 3 fast songs then 2 slow songs? Be careful what you say. Blaspheme the Holy Spirit and never be forgotten nor forgiven. Love and compassion is only one facet of God’s face. He is also a powerful, relentless judge who will stand for only justice and nothing short of. It is better to keep your opinions to yourself if you want to criticise. If you stood before God right now, could you really say that these healings are of the devil? Casting out devils by devils? The Fresh Fire Team has put together a whole separate team which now includes a medical doctor to verify all supposed healings and verify. Todd boasts not in himself but always in God. All the glory for these healings goes to God. In Matthew 7 it says you will know false prophets by their fruits and I look at Todd’s and all I see is someone who has been anointed to heal by Jesus Christ and does just that, in Jesus’ name. It is all about God in these Revival meetings and always has been. Matthew 10:8-Heal the sick, raise the dead, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. This is normal Christianity. Jesus instructed his disciples (which also applies to us) to do this. But do you see miracles in your own lives? In the salvation of the people around you? Whether the healing is physical or spiritual? Whether its breakthrough in your finances? Prosperity should be evident in your own lives fullstop. I am only 16 years old but it grieves my heart to see people disregard the amazing things that are happening in Lakeland, Florida, and I know it grieves the Holy Spirit too. God is moving and if the “so called Christians” of this age don’t rise up and take a stand of authority, well then God is going to pass you by. He will forget about the men who stand behind church pulpits suited and booted nicely and seeming alive on the outside but who are actually just dead on the inside. Just look at some of the youth who are supposed Christians. They are more interested in meeting at youth groups for social meetings and seeing their friends than having heart encounters with God. Scoffing at something of God is a dangerous place to be. God chooses the people most unlikely to be chosen. He goes for the underdogs, the ones that seem unlikely. Also great men of God like Bill Johnson, Rick Joyner and others I can’t hink of have commisioned him as a real revivalist. Great men of God that I firmly trust have backed him up and given him their support 100%. If my only offense is loving God too much, being passionate after him and offending the religious minds, then I don’t apologize. I know my God dances over me and smiles at me. I know my God is good and I love him. I happened upon this site by accident and will not be returning. I don’t like blogs and personally think they are a waste of time for people with no lives and friends but hey that’s just my opinion..hehe. For God’s beauty and glory, Hannah

  17. And the rest of scripture in context says…

    Mat 7:3 Why do you see the speck that is in your brother’s eye, but do not notice the log that is in your own eye?

    Scripture also says…

    1Co 5:12 After all, is it my business to judge outsiders? You are to judge those who are inside, aren’t you?

    And regarding Blaspheming against the Holy Spirit…

    Jesus mentions a sin that is unforgivable in Matt. 12:31-32 and calls it blasphemy of the Holy Spirit. But what exactly is this unforgivable sin? For that, we need to look at the context.

    Matt. 12:22-32 says, “Then there was brought to Him a demon-possessed man who was blind and dumb, and He healed him, so that the dumb man spoke and saw. 23And all the multitudes were amazed, and began to say, “This man cannot be the Son of David, can he?” 24But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, “This man casts out demons only by Beelzebub the ruler of the demons.” 25And knowing their thoughts He said to them, “Any kingdom divided against itself is laid waste; and any city or house divided against itself shall not stand. 26″And if Satan casts out Satan, he is divided against himself; how then shall his kingdom stand? 27″And if I by Beelzebub cast out demons, by whom do your sons cast them out? Consequently they shall be your judges. 28″But if I cast out demons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God has come upon you. 29″Or how can anyone enter the strong man’s house and carry off his property, unless he first binds the strong man? And then he will plunder his house. 30″He who is not with Me is against Me; and he who does not gather with Me scatters. 31″Therefore I say to you, any sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven men, but blasphemy against the Spirit shall not be forgiven. 32″And whoever shall speak a word against the Son of Man, it shall be forgiven him; but whoever shall speak against the Holy Spirit, it shall not be forgiven him, either in this age, or in the age to come,” (All Scripture quotes are from the NASB).

    Let me review this section briefly. In verse 22, Jesus healed a blind and dumb man. The Pharisees accuse Jesus of casting out demons by the power of “Beelzebub, the ruler of the demons” (v. 24). Jesus responds by saying that a kingdom divided will fall [vv. 25-28] and how the devil must first be bound before you can plunder his house (v. 29). In verses 31-32, He states that blasphemy against the Spirit will not be forgiven in this age or the age to come.
    By simply looking at the context it becomes apparent that blasphemy of the Holy Spirit is saying that Jesus did His miracles by the power of the devil. This is unforgivable. But why? We can find a clue by looking at when Jesus began His ministry.
    Jesus stated that His baptism was to “fulfill all righteousness,” (Matt. 3:15). The word “fulfill” should cause us to think of the Old Testament. Basically, Jesus was baptized because He had to fulfill the Old Testament requirements for entering into the priesthood. He was a priest after the order of Melchizedek (Psalm 110:4; Heb. 5:8-10; 6:20). Priests offered sacrifice to God on behalf of the people. Jesus became a sacrifice for our sin (1 Pet. 2:21; 2 Cor. 5:21) in His role as priest. According to the Old Testament, in order for a priest to be consecrated as a priest, He had to be washed with water (Lev. 8:6; Exodus 29:4, Matt. 3:15) and anointed with oil (Lev. 8:12; Exodus 29:7; Matt. 3:16). Both of these were bestowed upon Jesus at His baptism. Additionally, He may have needed to be 30 years old – [Num. 4:3].
    The oil is representative of the Holy Spirit who descended upon Jesus at His baptism (Matt. 3:16). It was after His baptism that He began His ministry and started performing miracles. He did His miracles by the power of the Holy Spirit who had come upon Him at His baptism. The Pharisees – who knew that Jesus’ miracles validated His words and ministry [see John 11:45-48] – were attempting to discredit Jesus’ Messiahship by saying that His works were by the devil and not by the Holy Spirit. Therefore, when the Pharisees accused Jesus of casting out demons by the power of Satan, they were blaspheming the Holy Spirit by whom Jesus performed His miracles. This is unforgivable because it struck at the very heart of the redemptive work of God in Christ. It struck at the very nature of Jesus’ ministry of redemption, testimony, and teaching. Jesus was ministering in the power of the Holy Spirit Himself, fulfilling the divine plan of God to provide a sacrifice for our sins (John 3:16; 1 John 4:10). The Pharisees were attributing this to demonic activity. This is a great blasphemy.

    Can a Believer Commit the Unforgivable Sin?

    No. A believer cannot commit the unforgivable sin. How can someone who has been born again (John 3:7), made a new creation (2 Cor. 5:17), and received eternal life [John 10:27-28] actually commit the unforgivable sin? He cannot. Jesus Himself said that we have eternal life, not conditional life: “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; and I give eternal life to them, and they shall never perish; and no one shall snatch them out of My hand.” Besides, it says in 2 Cor. 5:17 that the Christian is a new creation in Christ. We are different, no longer slaves to the old nature (Rom. 6:14). We are regenerated by the Holy Spirit.
    There is no biblical support for a believer committing this sin. It just hasn’t happened. Also, if you are worried that you may have committed the sin and can’t be forgiven, then don’t be concerned. If you are worrying about it, then you haven’t committed it. If you are worried about it, then that is a sign that you have not committed it. If you had, you wouldn’t be concerned.

  19. The bible also says…

    Test everything…

    1Jn 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.

    Because there will be certain people who have crept in to the House of God, who pervert the gospel once delivered to the saints…

    Jud 1:3-4 Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints. For certain people have crept in unnoticed who long ago were designated for this condemnation, ungodly people, who pervert the grace of our God into sensuality and deny our only Master and Lord, Jesus Christ.

    And because of this some shall fall away…

    1Ti 4:1 But the Spirit saith expressly, that in later times some shall fall away from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits and doctrines of demons,

    God says that there will be a time of judgment that actually starts in His House…

    1Pe 4:17 For the time is come for judgment to begin at the house of God: and if it begin first at us, what shall be the end of them that obey not the gospel of God?

    And we are not to judge outsiders but those inside the Church are to be judged…

    1Co 5:12 For what have I to do with judging outsiders? Is it not those inside the church whom you are to judge?

    Sadly God’s people love to hear false prophecy…

    Jer 5:31 The prophets prophesy falsely, and the priests bear rule by their hands; and My people love it so. And what will you do at the end of it?

    What will you do at the end of it…???
