Rolland Baker was quoted as saying…
Take laughter out of the Kingdom, and you have discipleship… Grim..

  1. Hi Zee: if i belonged to a middle class happy clappy bless me club i would say that this is grim. i don’t find that quote grim at all…it’s very true. i’m not a sad sack at all so don’t misunderstand me. Oh by the way i have not gotten Jacob Prasch’s Book yet but planing to. MUCH Amazing Grace to you ZEE!

  2. One of the fruits of the Spirit is joy, and Jesus was filled with the Spirit, I think the Bible is full of humour; we just don’t always understand due to the translation and the language.. Imagine a world without humour and laughter (in godly ways)!

  3. I agree with joy and humour being part of who we are in Christ. In fact, a biblical study on the word ‘joy’ may produce some interesting results 🙂 Sometimes it’s hard to have joy when so many things around us are happening that are hard to understand. Sometimes it’s hard to find that balance because of the days in which we live. As Christians are we suppose to be the happiest people on earth? Isn’t that a little narcissistic? Just putting it out there 😉

  4. Not sure what to make of Baker’s statement. Is he saying that discipleship has to be dry or it’s not real? Strange. We should certainly have joy in our lives.

    • From what I understand of Baker is that he and is wife seem to be affiliated with the Kansas City Prophets and the New Apostolic Reformation thing, and Roland thinks highly of William Branham, who is questionable to say the least. They do a lot of work with the poor which is wonderful. But this quote just seemed a bit off to me. I am trying to check out other stuff of theirs too. If any of you find anything that may help to discern, please let us know.

      • Ah… Kansas City Prophets. That’s the IHOP gang. The “Kingdom Now” clan. I believe their ministry to false but sure love their music… That’s one of those “can I keep this part and toss the rest” situations I mentioned once..

    • Thinkimg on it more, if the kingdom of God was filed with disciples in the biblical sense, how could that be grim? And this…did Jesus not say to make disciples of men. Just a thought…

      • Our LORD did say to make disciples, but the Kansas City gang and the “New Apostles” are making disciples for Satan. By my LORD’s Grace HE has kept me away from them Amen
