Why is it I do what I do?

I was just reading something on the Omega Letter website about current world events and how or what are we meant to do when we see prophecy lining up perfectly as we approach a world wide critical event. Obviously world events that are political and religious are in the daily news. Israel, that small little country, is in the news everyday. Then we have the religious news, Islamic and Christian; because we live in a multi-cultural society this isn’t surprising. Also in the news in more subtle ways is spirituality and mysticism and how society is grappling with our purpose here on earth.

How did we get here, and what does evolution of mankind really mean? Even the likes of Richard Dawkins, head honcho for Darwin’s theory of evolution has speculated at the possibility of outside intelligence seeding this planet. This is called panspermia. How do we fix the damage man has done to mother earth? All these questions bring up political and spiritual answers coming from many different sides of political and spiritual thought.

We have the left and centre left calling on some form of governmental consumerist socialist system to be put in place. Some see the whole Climate Change thing as being the start of this system which will implement the change needed for mother earth and human kind to survive. But this political consumerist socialist system is not being voiced just from governments but also from the religious sector. Rick Warren’s PEACE plan is just one of the Christian voices being heard today. I recently heard on Australian radio — believe it or not — that the religious right in America are talking about the Seven Mountains of dominionism. I see a real blurring of lines between the left and right.

Then you have the spiritual side too. We see a mixture of Occult and New-Age voices that channel spirit beings and those spirit beings tell us that we must evolve and become enlightened and only then mankind will move forward and survive. Then there is the alien gospel which says the exact same thing.

How do we as Christians deal with this news which directly affects us and affects the spreading of the Word and the Good News. Should we try and change society through governmental systems and/or other religious and spiritual systems?

I understand that we are to preach the gospel but that often falls on deaf ears.

I have posted quite a bit lately on fulfilled prophecy because people are REALLY interested in the future. They want answers. Jacob Prasch says concerning this…

In an age where evangelism has become so difficult in the developed world we must recall the instruction of Jesus to “Preach The Gospel of The Kingdom” – that is using eschatology and end time prophecy to engage in evangelistic dialogue, to proclaim the urgency of the need for salvation in the face of a returning Christ amidst a fast coming global cataclysm with the Middle East at its epicenter.

I think Jacob is right. Jesus is coming back, time is getting shorter by the day, and people need to hear about the Good News and current events through a biblical lens. They need to hear the biblical perspective on such matters.

“Son of man, speak to the children of thy people, and say unto them, When I bring the sword upon a land, if the people of the land take a man of their coasts, and set him for their watchman:”

“But if the watchman see the sword come, and blow not the trumpet, and the people be not warned; if the sword come, and take any person from among them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at the watchman’s hand.” (Ezekiel 33:6-7)

And this is why I do what I do.
