While Australian politics is in turmoil because MPs and senators are refusing to back action on global warming – on the eve of the Copenhagen Climate Change summit. I have written about this ‘Copenhagen Climate Change Summit’ before HERE and HERE. Dr Calvin Smith has also written something about climate change and in that post he speaks about something that I hadn’t heard of before. Apparently there was some kind of hacking going on and that hacking uncovered some very interesting cover ups within the whole climate change movement…
I’ve posted here several times on the issue of climate change and my scepticism is pretty well-known elsewhere. Importantly, ideological (rather than scientific) segments of the green lobby seem to engage in the worship of creation, rather than the Creator, and indeed part of the movement draw on ancient ‘geolatrous’ paganism such as Druidism. Leaving the purely scientific aspect to one aside, then, it is very much a religion with its own belief system, together with its own heretics (climate change deniers) and thus inevitable witch hunts.
But as I’ve posted elsewhere, the number of ‘heretics’ is increasing steadily.
And spectacularly (and I must admit somewhat fabulously) there emerged news last week of a server containing many of the University of East Anglia’s Climate Research Unit, which counts various well-known scientists promoting man-made climate change, being hacked and various files and emails stolen and published across the Internet. What has caused such a furore is how these documents reveal a deliberate and concerted attempt by some well-known pro-climate change scientists to hide inconvenient facts which call into question their dogma, as well as besmirch serious and highly qualified scientists who deny or even simply question aspects of climate change. Calvin L. Smith: I Can’t Help Feeling a Little Smug (sorry)
So after a lot of research, I have come up with several newspaper clippings that may interest you regarding the emails:
Climate Emails Stoke Debate – Scientists’ Leaked Correspondence Illustrates Bitter Feud over Global Warming
The scientific community is buzzing over thousands of emails and documents — posted on the Internet last week after being hacked from a prominent climate-change research center — that some say raise ethical questions about a group of scientists who contend humans are responsible for global warming.
The correspondence between dozens of climate-change researchers, including many in the U.S., illustrates bitter feelings among those who believe human activities cause global warming toward rivals who argue that the link between humans and climate change remains uncertain.
Some emails also refer to efforts by scientists who believe man is causing global warming to exclude contrary views from important scientific publications.
Hundreds of private e-mail messages and documents hacked from a computer server at a British university are causing a stir among global warming skeptics, who say they show that climate scientists conspired to overstate the case for a human influence on climate change.
The e-mail messages, attributed to prominent American and British climate researchers, include discussions of scientific data and whether it should be released, exchanges about how best to combat the arguments of skeptics, and casual comments — in some cases derisive — about specific people known for their skeptical views. Drafts of scientific papers and a photo collage that portrays climate skeptics on an ice floe were also among the hacked data, some of which dates back 13 years.
Leading British climate change scientists are facing calls for a public inquiry after hacked email exchanges appeared to indicate that scientific data may have been manipulated to strengthen the case for man-made global warming.
[…]Lord Lawson, the former chancellor, led calls for a full investigation into the leaked files, saying that the good reputation of British science was under threat.
In one email Professor Phil Jones, director of the university’s respected Climatic Research Unit, referred to a "trick" he applied to raw data to "hide the decline" in global temperatures.
The email correspondence also apparently showed that Prof Jones lobbied for the sacking of a journal editor who published papers that questioned the scientific consensus on global warming.
Phil Jones of the University of East Anglia denies emails provide evidence of collusion by climatologists to fix data
He confirmed that all of the leaked emails that had provoked heated debate – including the now infamous email from 1999 in which he discussed a "trick" to "hide the decline" in global temperatures – appeared to be genuine.
"The use of the term ‘hiding the decline’ was in an email written in haste," he said. "CRU has not sought to hide the decline." (The University of East Anglia has now posted a detailed explanation of why this phrase was used on its website)
If you want to sift through any of these emails yourself see:
On 20 November 2009, emails and other documents, apparently originating from with the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia.
If real, these emails contain some quite surprising and even disappointing insights into what has been happening within the climate change scientific establishment. Worryingly this same group of scientists are very influential in terms of economic and social policy formation around the subject of climate change.
Here are just some of the correspondence via email:
From: Phil Jones. To: Many. Nov 16, 1999
"I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature [the science journal] trick of adding in the real temps to each series for the last 20 years (ie, from 1981 onwards) and from 1961 for Keith’s to hide the decline."
Critics cite this as evidence that data was manipulated to mask the fact that global temperatures are falling. Prof Jones claims the meaning of "trick" has been misinterpreted
From Phil Jones To: Michael Mann (Pennsylvania State University). July 8, 2004
"I can’t see either of these papers being in the next IPCC report. Kevin and I will keep them out somehow — even if we have to redefine what the peer-review literature is!"
The IPCC is the UN body charged with monitoring climate change. The scientists did not want it to consider studies that challenge the view that global warming is genuine and man-made.
From Phil Jones. To: Michael Mann. Date: May 29, 2008
"Can you delete any emails you may have had with Keith re AR4? Keith will do likewise."
Climate change sceptics tried to use Freedom of Information laws to obtain raw climate data submitted to an IPCC report known as AR4. The scientists did not want their email exchanges about the data to be made public.

Oh, and by the way. I do believe there will be some kind of heating up. In fact it is outlined in the bible…
2Pe 3:10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall be dissolved with fervent heat, and the earth and the works that are therein shall be burned up.
So, as you can see, according to the bible it is God who heats up the heavens and earth, NOT MAN!!!!
