Another inclusive Bible version – Jesus came from a Gorilla

World Net Daily posted an article about a new bible version that is hitting the shelves. The Christian Post endorses this evolutionary inclusive bible. You can find out who endorses this bible version by visiting the web-site called ‘The Lost Spiritual World‘.

This from World Net Daily:

A new, lavishly illustrated book – described by its marketer as a “postmodern” edition of the Bible – takes Darwin’s theory of evolution as gospel and presents Jesus as being born, “not to a virgin, but to a gorilla.”

According to Ruth Rimm, Bronx school teacher and book artist, her version of the Scriptures – titled “Lost Spiritual World” – “explores the emergence of a new global spirituality that mixes the best of each wisdom tradition with the latest findings in psychology, quantum physics, neuroscience, and linguistics.”

It is a “Bible for skeptics, seekers, and people of different faiths.”

Are you offended? If so, why?

If you think that this is going too far, please tell me why that is? What are you basing your uneasiness on? Do you believe that this version of the bible is drastically wrong yet you think that “The Message”, “The Spiritual Formation Bible“, by RENOVARE and “The Voice” are not that bad?

Basically, from what I have read and researched on this topic is that all of these new bibles have a tendancy to question the inerrancy of the Word of God. This New-Age bible version is the logical conclusion that can be drawn from all the others which are just not so forthright about calling their version mystical even though they are written in a style that I would class as a ‘mythic – inclusive story’ drawn from cultural dialogue. They actually class their bible versions as Gods story and refuse to see the Word of God as being His Word to man. They insist that it is the other way around, it is man telling the story of God; there is a huge difference.

That’s the problem, if you don’t stand on the Truth of the Word being the inerrancy of scripture under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit – a word for word translation as opposed to a meaning of word translation – then you have no right to judge this version of the Bible.

When I watched this you-tube the authors were 100% right with one thing they had said. ‘There is a New Awakening in the air’. Yes there is, and they are not so blind to not see it.

Question is … is it a biblical one, or is it the promised delusion that God speaks about in His Word?

Thanks go to Carla at More Books and Things for pointing me to this new New-Age bible …. I highly recommend her site!

  1. The Message is not a Bible. It’s a paraphrase–much the way children’s Bibles in many cases are actually retold Bible stories, written in an easy-to-read format.

  2. You are right, The Message is not a Bible. That paraphrase may be easier to read but it obfuscates the truth and does not make things clearer at all.

Thanks for coming by and commenting!

I have a post that you can find ‘here’ that I have dedicated to this paraphrase.

  3. It’s about weighing and sifting, don’t you think? If we are not prudent, practicing due diligence to weigh and sift what is the truth, then how will we find it? Is it something that just falls in your lap, or do you have to put a little effort into it?
There are many who would like to make God “fit” into their version of a “bible”, and do so with everything from “creative license” to downright twiting and lying.
I tell you V, I feel I have come further in studying God’s Word in the last three months or so, by not listening to “popular” teachers and just getting back to the basics: the Bible, a good source for concordance and commentary, and my knees!
No Orbs of Light, no Darwinism grafted in, no New Age chanting or crystals; just me and my Father with His Word….it’s been quite a revelation when you can quiet everything down, and listen for that small, still voice!

  4. Good for you Ed, I know from experience that is exactly what happened to me some years ago.

I was at a place where I had doubts about things, and I prayed and prayed to God about my situation.

Then I wondered to myself, how will I ever muster up faith when I feel I have none, I can’t lie and say that I had any where none existed. I couldn’t pretend that I had something when there was nothing.

So, I prayed and asked God, what can I do. The words came back…. I were to be obedient to Him. I wondered how I could do that?

I had to start with reading His Word and being obedient to Him is something that I could do, however begrudgingly at the time. I was to just spend time in His Word whether or not I felt like it was beside the point. It had nothing to do with what I felt like doing, He corrected me of that big time.

I also found that God said that His Word never returns to Him void and that I could trust in Him even if I was unfaithful, He remained faithful. Faithful to His promise of His unfinished work in me.

The verse in Timothy was what I held on to at that time in my life.

2Ti 2:13 if we are faithless, he abideth faithful; for he cannot deny himself.

I knew that the Holy Spirit had quickened me to believe that Christ died for me and because of that he abides, lives in me:

Gal 2:20 I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I that live, but Christ living in me: and that life which I now live in the flesh I live in faith, the faith which is in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself up for me.

I also knew that Christ promised a teacher … the greatest teacher and counselor ever, that being the Holy Spirit.

Joh 14:26 and the Comforter, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and remind you of all things that I said to you.

So, I figured that because He cannot deny Himself and because I am His work in progress, I would trust that the Comforter would teach me in all things that Jesus said in His Word. And because He is the Word fulfilled then I should read it and let the Holy Spirit quicken His Truth in me.

If I was to just sit back and rest on my laurels (sp?) and rely on experience one only knows where I would have gone, what track I would have walked on. But I thought to myself …. well the only way I can be sure to find the truth manifest is in His Word.

Thus began my living journey, holding on to His promise of never being unfaithful and always teaching. The Holy Spirit never points to the Holy Spirit (see John 16:13), the Holy Spirit only ever points to Jesus – Jesus the Word Manifest – Jesus then points to the Father.

Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God. So when these people omit things that don’t quite fit into their understanding then they omit the Word of God because they change the meaning to suit their preconcieved ideologies.

Jesus promised that His Word would not change until all things have come to pass, not one jot or one tittle would be taken away from His Word before all in fulfilled. He says that heaven and earth shall pass away, but His Word shall never pass away. That is why I trust in Him, that is why I trust that what we have as a word for word translation of scripture God Himself has preserved and in preservation we can trust it to be sufficient to know His son through that Word. It is His book, he has invested interest in it. I believe that if God be God, then He would preserve His Word until all things be fulfilled. His Word should not change to suit the times in which we live. Jesus is the same yesterday today and forever, He does not change.

Heb 13:8 Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday and today and into the ages [fig., forever]!

And if Jesus is ‘the logos’ – the Word – then I trust that His Word is preserved and unchanging. Otherwise, if faith come by hearing the Word and then certain people change the Word to suit the times, then what faith do they have? One that is contemporary and could be completely different in the next 5, 10 or 100 years. On and on it goes…. where it will stop nobody knows.

Like you said with mysticism, darwinism, occultism as your lens through which you look and interpret scripture through then you are clouded in contemporary things that always change over time. But if you let the text ( a good word for word text, not a paraphrase ) speak for itself and let scripture interpret scripture and do this consistently and with a prayful and teachable spirit then you are on the right path to being shaped by the potter as His Will dictates.

So this verse I pray today …

Psa 86:11 Teach me your way, O LORD, that I may walk in your truth; unite my heart to fear your name.

  5. Oh, V, my comment here did not make it through I guess!
Thank you for your commentary on this, there is so much to be learned, yet, only one source to learn it from; how awesome is that?
    Luke 10:22
`All things were delivered up to me by my Father, and no one doth know who the Son is, except the Father, and who the Father is, except the Son, and he to whom the Son may wish to reveal [Him]. And having turned unto the disciples, he said, by themselves, `Happy the eyes that are perceiving what ye perceive; for I say to you, that many prophets and kings did wish to see what ye perceive, and did not see, and to hear what ye hear, and did not hear.’
