I heard a creation scientist say once that there are many skeletons like this kept in the basement of the Smithsonian. Don't know if it is true, but the idea was that they didn't know what to do with them because these discoveries, as well as many other items found in coal beds, didn't fit in with the evolutionary time theory. But of course, as you mentioned, these kinds of things can be perfectly explained by fitting them into the time frame recorded for us in the Word of God. For sure.
