I remember when the al-Dura footage was aired here in Australia, the closing ceremony for the Australian Sydney Olympics was on at the same time. I was watching the closing ceremony with friends when I received a phone call from my husband who told me that he had just witnessed that the Israeli Defence Force had selectively shot at a young child, that child being al-Dura, and killing him. He was absolutely furious and I was on the other end of the phone call just as dumb founded and upset by the news.
But I said to him that we may not have all the facts about this yet. Whatever it was that he had seen on the ABC station, they had portrayed it in such a way that the Israeli Defence Force was already found guilty of a cold blooded murder because of this very selective shooting of an innocent young boy.
But sometimes things are not all as they seem. Certain things were coming out of the woodwork, and over the last few years I have been reading with interest about this case. Then I find out about the upcoming court case against France 2. I think that this needs the world’s attention, so I have red flagged it.
A hearing, in which the raw footage of this event will be viewed in open court, is scheduled for November 14.

The iconic images of Muhammad al-Dura’s alleged death in Gaza inflamed Palestinian sentiment and provoked terrible bloodshed. Despite the overwhelming evidence that Israel was not responsible for firing the bullets that hit al-Dura, and doubts as to the credibility of the footage taken from the scene, this blood libel has continued to prevail.
Now, as the raw footage taken by France 2 prepares to air in a Paris courtroom, here is a reminder of the story so far.
There is some evidence that this was a staged event. Read more about it here, and you can find some raw footage that has been made available at ‘The Second Draft‘. Along with other interviews with those involved.
So, tomorrow is the big court case against France 2 in Paris… let’s see where this leads.
