Philosophy and Science? And a bit of a Rant!
When Al Gore was asked the question… Not every scientist agrees with the man-made global warming scenario, and aren’t some scientists saying that the globe is just going through some cyclical changes, wouldn’t you say that the jury is still out on the man-made global warming issue?
His answer….
Well… Hahahaha, some people still believe in a flat earth, hahaha!
Emmm… hasn’t this crossed over to a philosophical argument now! In effect isn’t he saying that anyone disagreeing with the ‘man-made global warming‘ scenario is now put into the flat earth camp of idiocy! A great one-liner to ridicule scientists who happen to not agree with the stance that Al Gore and others have taken and a one-liner that doesn’t even answer the question at all (in a typical political fashion I might add).
Instantly you think to yourself … Yeah well… we all know that the earth is a sphere - who would be dumb enough to hold to a flat earth theory anymore? Right?
In fact, who are these flat earthers anyway and where did this theory come from and what does the bible actually say about it?
Find our more about the differences between Biblical Literalism and the Historical Grammatical Method of Interpretation before tarring a movement with the same brush. There is a clear difference between the two and one method would lead me to believe that God comes from Teman. Teman - This was a city, the capital of a province of Idumea, to the south of the land of Canaan. Not sure where that is exactly, but the bible does say that.
Hab 3:3 God came from Teman, And the Holy One from mount Paran. Selah. His glory covered the heavens, And the earth was full of his praise.
I may have to visit some time!
