Friends of the World

James 4:4 Do you not know that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? Whoever, then, purposes to be a friend of the world is put down as hostile to God.

I found a good article by Jacob Prasch of Moriel Ministries which I have included at the end of this post. While reading this we must remember that many times in the bible are we told not to store our treasures here on earth, and we are to look forward to the kingdom that is to come. That kingdom will only come when Christ returns. Remember that Christ Himself said that His kingdom is not of this world. So I just don’t understand why people like Rick Warren and his ilk are going down a track that is full of mans way and not God’s.

But before I get to that article, it brought to my mind a book that I am currently reading called ‘Moral Meltdown’ (here is another link about my first impressions). I have to say that as I am reading it and putting the pieces together of our fragmented world I see very clearly that Rick Warren’s PEACE plan is less about the gospel and more about control. Warren has obfuscated the truth to something that is barely recognisable and therein lies the problem.

Many that say that they are faithful to God are losing a battle because they are on the defense because of a lack of understanding about absolute truth. Absolute truth has been squandered by the majority today, people lack any commitment to stick with it or to fight for it as a global issue, rather you hear all too often pluralistic ideologies as something to be defended and upheld. How this ideology can be cohesive is beyond me. Let’s watch the house of cards fall down, shall we?
Jesus was not concerned about tolerance when he turned the tables in the temple or when he called the pharisees son’s of satan, he was concerned with truth because He is Truth. Without even a cursory understanding of absolute truth then the struggle is lost which gives way to a totalitarian bombardment of lies.

Today we have not only cultural battles on our horizon, but battles within the church. Leaders are compromising the truth for sheer number values and seeker friendly services. ‘Oh my … how the church has grown! ‘Yes, it’s grown fat and lazy by being spoon fed junk food and not the real bread of Life’. Saudi columnist Maha Al-Hujailan wrote in the English-language daily Arab News on November 6, 2006, an article titled, “The Nature of the Abaya,” in which she says that the abaya  - the black full-body robe worn by Saudi women - is not simply a garment, but is rather a means by which men confine women and impose on them restrictive patterns of behavior.
