Emerging Church - Rick Warren - and the New World Order

newworld.gifWalter Rauschenbusch was a Fabian Socialist who stated in 1893 that “the only power that can make socialism succeed, if it is established, is religion.” And in Edgar Bundy’s COLLECTIVISM IN THE CHURCHES (1958), one reads regarding Rauschenbusch that “Socialism thus was his first concern. Religion was only a means toward achieving socialism.”Today in many Protestant as well as Catholic churches, one is more likely to hear a message about the need for “social action” than the need to accept Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior in order to be saved and go to heaven. In fact, there is currently one very popular religious figure who began his ministry by surveying people about what they thought should be preached at church, and he holds leadership seminars emphasizing the need for social action and service. Interesting read don’t you think? I for one, have been made very aware of the dangers surrounding the social gospel and Rick Warren’s P.E.A.C.E plan. It doesn’t sit quite right with me. I have written many a post on that very subject. walter.gifI have always seen that the emphasis was not on Gods Word regarding why He sent His son to die, but rather, creating a kingdom here on on earth. Don’t get me wrong here, I do believe there will be a kingdom of God here on earth! Jesus will be the one to usher that one in, not Rick Warren, not Bush, not the Pope but Jesus. I pray for His kingdom to come everyday. We are instructed to pray for it.

When I read the observations from News with Views about the need for ’social action in the churches’ rather than the need to accept Jesus as Lord and Saviour I can only question if the people pushing this methodology are biblical illiterates. The church should be saving souls first, that should be the main agenda. Conversion is the only thing that makes a person a disciple of Christ. It is faith that saves - and by that I mean the faith that is in Christ that saves us from the second death which is our destiny and our doom.

Conducting a survey to see what message should be preached at church is the most offensive thing I have heard. To even ask the world what to preach at church, I would have thought it be obvious, wouldn’t you? Jesus said that his kingdom is not of this world, we are constantly told not to store our treasures here on earth, we are also called not to be part of this world but to be separate from it. Why then, should the world even begin to understand what the Church needs are? We are told that the natural man does not understand the spiritual things. So, how can the world even begin to advise on all things spiritual? (more…)
