My Prayer Map arrived today!
You may recall that I added an RSS feed called ‘The Voice of the Martyrs’ recently. I have just received my first newsletter and I thought I would share with you a prayer map that came with the newsletter. The prayer map signifies restricted nations - meaning those nations that are keeping Christians from obtaining bibles and other Christian literature. These nations have government-sanctioned ordinances where Christians are harassed, imprisoned because of their beliefs, killed or deprived of their possessions and their liberties … all because of their faith.
There are other hostile areas which include nations where governments consistently attempt to provide protection for the Christian population, but Christians are victims of violence because of their witness.
Richard Wurmbrand was the founder of VOM and he survived 14 years of torture while imprisoned in Romania, that included two years in the dying room. With God’s Grace he escaped and he went to the West to speak to the free Church. He had a powerful message for those of us who are free to love and worship Christ, that message being - don’t forget those who are not free. He brings to our mind the silent Church who is not free, the one without a voice. He wrote a book - one of many - called ‘Tortured for Christ’, I read that book when I first became a Christian many years ago and I highly recommend it.
I just wanted to share with you something that I think that we in the West should be made aware of.
